Christmas Eve Service 2010
We invite you to come and fellowship with us as we hear the “Voices of Christmas.” This service will feature traditional Christmas hymns and readings concluding with open Communion and candle lighting.
A love offering will be collected during the service with all the proceeds going to help abandoned, abused and neglected children from across Kansas. It will be used to help Youthville which is one of the largest nonprofit, child welfare agencies in Kansas, specializing in foster care, adoption, psychiatric residential treatment, counseling and therapy.
In the early 1920s, the United Methodist Church recognized the need for a residence for homeless and abandoned children. These concerns led to the purchase of 20 acres of land for an orphanage, which became the site of the Kansas Methodist Home for Children. In 1960, the Board of Trustees officially changed the agency name to United Methodist Youthville. They also approved a plan that focused on providing services to adolescent youth with emotional or social adjustment problems. Today, Youthville cares for over 1,400 Kansas children every day.
We would like to invite you to make this a part of your Christmas celebration. We hope that it will help each of us find the true joy of Christmas. A joy that comes from sacrificial giving to children in need who can be blessed by our gifts. We hope you can join with us at 520 Joplin Street in Galena, Kansas this Christmas Eve.
